Peninsula Point: A Charleston Broad Street Experience
Peninsula Point: A Charleston Broad Street Experience
Meagan Moore

Broad Street has been at the heart of life in the Charleston since the early 1700s and as the city spread out, Broad Street maintained its historic appeal. Anchored by the Four Corners of Law (made up by the Federal Courthouse & Post Office, the County Courthouse, City Hall, and St. Michael's Episcopal Church), Broad Street has come to separate the downtown Charleston peninsula with the South of Broad neighborhood, and North of Broad neighborhoods. Today, this historic street remains at the heart of the city, bustling with businesses, carriage tours, local eateries and shops. It's a "can't miss" when visiting the city of Charleston for so many reasons.

The best way to experience this part of the Holy City is to stay a few nights and truly delve into all South of Broad has to offer. One of our newest downtown vacation rentals, Peninsula Point is a swanky 2-bedroom apartment in the center of it all. You can start the day with fresh brewed coffee and warm crescents from local favorite, Normandy Farm Artisan Bakery just two doors down. With coffee and crescent in hand, you can walk to nearby Charleston landmarks, Waterfront Park, the Pineapple Fountain, Rainbow Row or White Point Gardens. Local tip: Try to  catch the sun rise over Charleston Harbor at Waterfront Park, its truly spectacular! For a leisurely morning, you can capture all of the history by strolling through the  prestigious South of Broad neighborhood, where you'll find some of the areas oldest and most beautiful homes dating back to 1721.

After a morning walkabout, take some time to relax and freshen up for a day exploring the city. From this Broad Street retreat you can walk to just about anywhere: shops and restaurants on King Street, the historic Charleston City Market where you can shop locally handcrafted goods, or take in Charleston's deep history with a horse drawn carriage tour.

In the evening, it's a short walk to top local restaurants that are truly just around the corner, including High Cotton on East Bay Street, or Poogan's Porch one block away on Queen Street. After dinner, you may find yourself taking a stroll down Broad Street where you'll meet Colonial Lake, and one of the best sunsets on the downtown peninsula at the Charleston City Marina on Lockwood Drive. You can even grab a late night cocktail at Salty Mike's Deck Bar overlooking the Ashley River. The best part is at the end of the day, you're just a short walk away from your vacation rental, and can cozy up in the luxury linens and feel right at home.

Staying on Broad Street in downtown Charleston provides a "walk everywhere" getaway. Beyond the historic buildings, city landmarks, and local restaurants and shops, you can feel like a resident and part of the community when you stay at Peninsula Point.

Now is the perfect time to stay downtown with our getaway package for Peninsula Point. During a 2-night stay, from now until March 1, you can not only enjoy luxury accommodations, but either a private carriage tour (that will pick you up at your front door), or a dinner at one of Charleston's top restaurants, all for $400 OFF normal pricing.
