It’s no surprise that the center of life on Folly Beach SC is aptly named Center Street. This is, after all, the “main drag” of this charming, beachside town, known locally as the spot that offers some of the best surfing along the eastern seaboard and referred to in travel publications as “The Edge of America.”  Center Street is home to much of the local shopping, dining, and nightlife that this funky surf town has to offer. As the singular road onto and off of the island,  it divides the island neatly in two, East and West, stopping only when it reaches the ocean. The eastern side is home to popular surf spot “The Washout” and scenic Lighthouse Inlet which, at the northernmost tip of the island, offers amazing views of the historic Morris Island Lighthouse. The west end of the island is home to the beautiful Folly Beach County Park. And from Center Street, you’re close to EVERYTHING!

Our newest luxury vacation retreat, “Slightly Off Center,” named with a cheeky nod toward the fun that awaits, sits just a half block back from all the action on Center Street,  and offers everything you’ll need for an unforgettable Folly Beach vacation. This modern, beachy “quadplex” is the much-anticipated passion project from the development team at Luxury Simplified, newly built from the ground up. Site selection is key when rolling out new properties in our luxury portfolio and our team knew it didn’t get much better than being directly off Center Street, where guests would be close to everything. All four homes feature cool, coastal interiors, luxury finishes, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and private pools.

This laid back beach town offers dining and entertainment options that truly serve up “something for everyone.” That means that a stay at “Slightly Off Center” with friends means you might end your day on the beach just steps away at Planet Follywood, a popular local bar offering late night snacks and live music. But entertainment options of all kinds abound – Folly Beach is even home to an authentic Irish pub, St. James Gate.  You’ve got Folly Beach Crab Shack, next to Mr. John’s Beach Store, a local merch shop for all of your beach and souvenir needs. Center Street Coffee is on one corner, as is Snapper Jacks on the other, the only restaurant with a rooftop bar – a great place to spend a warm summer evening with friends.

Other walkable favorites located just off Center Street include Bert’s Market, a local convenience store opened 24-hours with everything you forgot to pack and the best spicy chicken sandwiches on the island. The Lost Dog Cafe is a great casual brunch spot that welcomes the whole family – even the dog! Pier 101, located inside the iconic and beloved Folly Beach Pier, serves up classic American fare with a side of ocean views! The pier is also a great place to relax, catch a few fish, and watch the boats come and go from Charleston’s busy harbor.

Possibly the most important aspect of any Folly Beach vacation is, well, Folly Beach. From “Slightly Off Center” the ocean is only a few blocks away. While you could navigate the sidewalks of Center Street with cooler and kids in tow, the city provides convenient beach access paths that will lead beach goers to the nearest beach access. The beach spreads out for miles on either side of Folly Pier, and as part of the Folly Beach County Park, is monitored by trained lifeguards.

The convenience of staying directly off of Center Street means that you don’t have to take a car anywhere – or even bring a car for that matter!  It means that you can have a walk-everywhere island vacation where you live like a local and have an authentic Folly Beach experience.
