When it comes to just about any culinary cuisine, Charleston SC knows how to do it right. And for the quintessential American classic, Charleston restaurants and taverns have made it their mission to master the perfect burger. But you have to wonder, what is the “best of the best?”  As a luxury vacation management concierge team, it’s up to us to try out the top spots so when you visit and ask “Where can we get the best burger?” – we’ll have the perfect recommendation! So, here at Luxury Simplified Retreats we took it upon ourselves to search for the best burger in Charleston! Fifteen burgers later, give or take a few, and a much needed visit to the gym, we’ve put our list of “tops” together and named the most mouthwatering burgers in the Holy City!

So in order from BEST to “still pretty amazing” burgers here we have it:

Little Jack’s Tavern

The tavern’s double patty melts in your mouth and is the perfect blend of cheese-to-meat ratio, topped with sunchoke relish, all in between a fluffy sesame seed bun. Little Jack’s Tavern even took home the Schweid & Sons ‘The Very Best Burger Award’ in February of this year at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival. No wonder it was SO mouthwatering!

The Bar at Husk

With two bacon-infused ground beef patties that lie in-between a house-made buttermilk & benne seed bun, it is no wonder The Bar at Husk consistently makes it on all of Charleston “top burger” lists. To top it all off, Husk even drizzles it’s very own “special sauce” on top of their burgers. And besides, what’s not to LOVE about eating a delectable burger in an 1800’s restored home with exposed brick and vines popping through the ceiling? A true one of its kind Charleston bar… and burger.

Moe’s Crosstown

On Tuesday’s, $5 Burger Night at Moe’s Crosstown is where you want to be. Get a bang for your burger-buck and enjoy the delicious all American char beef burger topped with anything your heart desires. You can’t really go wrong with a “build your own” burger, but they also have options with a fried egg (yum), pimento cheese (Charleston classic), and pesto mayo (yes please!). Located in an up & coming area, Moe’s Crosstown is our favorite little hole-in-the-wall pub, and those always have the best menus!

167 Raw

Who said a burger has to be beef? Plot twist – the Tuna Burger at 167 Raw will knock you off your seat! 167 Raw, owned by a couple of guys from Nantucket, MA, know exactly what they’re doing when it comes to fresh seafood. Fresh yellow fin tuna, grilled to perfection and topped with spice rock sauces, pickled red onion and guacamole, make for an unbelievable blast of flavor that you must experience.

Cru Café

If you don’t think a fancy restaurant can fix a burger as well as a local joint, just head to Cru Café. Prepared au poivre, a classic French preparation of stake, The C.A.B Burger is an all around tasty burger.

So it sounds like you can’t go wrong here, but we HAD to pick a winner and Little Jack’s took the cake … I mean burger. It must be that sunchoke relish, but Little Jack’s Double Tavern Burger was our favorite!
